Oban
I favour a campsite called North Ledaig , and  recommend booking in advance North Ledaig Caravan Park, I like this campsite because it is on a bus route which in turn lets you visit the Oban distillery based in the centre of Oban and allow you to sample the whiskys with no concern about driving. Oban is beautiful and next to the ferry terminal is a boardwalk where small portions of freshly caught fish can be bought cheaply and are served on paper plates with outside seating – it is wonderful!

Spend a little time in Fort William then drive to Mallaig for the road ferry to the Isle of Skye stopping at Arisaig and Morran on the way this take you past the Harry Potter viaduct  at Glenfinnan  you can drive of the Skye Bridge when you are leaving the island.

Skye – my castle of choice Dunvegan and 2 great campsites round there near Corbost which is very handy for the home of Talisker Whisky.

Inverness, I would stay at  Torvean campsite, walking distance into the town centre and has a ferry trip right at the door for the Caledonian Canal visit Fort George when you are there it is a living army camp with a fantastic heritage museum.

St Andrews or Crail are amazing bases for the East Neuk of Fife.  St Andrews Holiday Park is large campsite on the main bus route and offers a nice walk to St Andrews Cathedral, the Castle and of course the Old Course.  Take in St Andrews, Crail, Pittenweem, St Monans and Ellie. Park up in St Andrews or Crail and use the 95 bus, it runs all day through these coastal towns.
